Decadron for surgeries. Yes/No?

Not an ICU question per se.

Anyone avoiding decadron (4mg, 8mg) IV for PONV prophylaxis in the scheduled/urgent/emergency surgeries at their institution?

We often utilized lidocaine IV for those with Reactive Airway in the OR. This runs in my family, most definitely in my adult son. He and I could cough and cough post-intubation. Lidocaine worked extremely well. There are studies on whether it can help with PONV. I know with our OR patients, it kept them from coughing to the point of nausea/vomiting.
